FAQ

FAQ

Quick answers to the most common questions about Stow.

Does Stow upload my music?

No. Your audio stays on your iPhone. Stow does not send your files to Bottleworks Labs or any cloud music service.

The only optional network features:

  • Wi-Fi Transfer — local network only, from your computer to your phone
  • Find Artwork — sends title/artist/album text to public metadata services when you tap it — never your audio

Where are my files stored?

Inside Stow's private app storage on your iPhone. Importing copies files in — it doesn't move or delete your originals in Files or cloud unless you remove them yourself.

Does Wi-Fi Transfer require internet?

No. It requires the same local Wi-Fi network. It does not work over the internet or cellular.

Can I use Dropbox, Google Drive, or iCloud?

Yes — via the Files app. If a provider appears in Files, you can import from it. Stow does not auto-sync; it imports a copy. See Cloud providers.

Does Stow stream music?

No. Stow is not Spotify, Apple Music, or Pandora. You import files you own and play them offline.

What happens after my 14-day trial?

Pro features (EQ, crossfade, themes, library customization) ask you to upgrade. Everything else — import, playback, CarPlay, speed, queue — keeps working free. See Trial & subscription.

Can I buy Lifetime later?

Yes. When App Store purchases launch, Stow plans to offer $9.99/year and $39.99 lifetime. You won't need to subscribe first to buy lifetime later.

Why did Wi-Fi upload stop?

Stow stops the upload server when the app backgrounds. Keep Stow open on Transfers. See Wi-Fi Transfer.

CarPlay only shows part of my folder

CarPlay lists up to 100 tracks per view for safety. Use iPhone for very large folders or build a playlist.
