Introduction

Your audio lives on your iPhone in Stow's private storage. Understanding where files go helps you manage space and backups.

Where files are stored

  • Imported audio is copied into Stow's app container — not the Photos library or Music app.
  • Original files in Files / cloud are not deleted when you import.
  • Deleting a track in Stow removes it from Stow only.

Library backup

Settings → Library Backup

  • Export a .stowlibrary file — playlists, tags, pins, resume points, settings
  • Does not include audio files themselves
  • Import on a new phone after re-importing the same audio files

Tips

  • Check iPhone Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Stow for space used.
  • Wi-Fi Transfer and large FLAC libraries need generous free space before importing.
