Import troubleshooting
Common fixes when a file won't import, a transfer stalls, or a folder looks empty.
Introduction
Most import issues are format, duplicate, or storage related. This guide covers the common ones.
Duplicate skipped
What happened: A file with the same name already exists in that folder.
Fix: Delete the old copy in Stow, or import to a different folder. Re-importing after delete works normally.
Unsupported file
What happened: Stow doesn't recognize the format.
Fix: Check Supported formats. Convert to MP3 or M4A if needed.
Wi-Fi Transfer interrupted
What happened: Upload server stopped.
Fix: Keep Stow open on Transfers. Don't lock the phone during large uploads. Retry failed files from the browser page.
AirDrop / Share missing Stow
Fix: Save to Files → import via Files app.
Import finished but files missing
Check: Correct folder in Library — Wi-Fi uploads go to the folder you chose per file.
Check: Import summary for skip counts.
Not enough storage
Fix: iPhone Settings → General → Storage. Remove unused apps or import in smaller batches.
